Welcome aboard the Noordam

Welcome our fellow travelers Joe and Deb, Gigi, and Jeff and Babs. As has been a tradition on all the cruises we have done, our group meets at 5:00pm on the aft for 5pm Somewhere cocktails. Here me make quick friends with Erwin who from now on will remember not only all of our names but also what we are drinking. Joan, Steve, Fran, and I are all on the "almost unlimited drink package” which we discover has a 15 drink per ay maximum and nothing more than $8.00.

First of the Day!

Onward to a wonderful cruise. To kick it off, Auckland offers us a beautiful sunset as we set sail for Tauranga.

Time for dinner so we all go refresh in our ways for Dinner in the main dining room. We have a table for 9 but Jeff and Babs are AWOL. We know they are on board but not sure where. We call their room and no answer. So off we go to the Vista Dining room for a fine meal. At the entrance the Maitre D asks us how many and I share its 9 but two are missing. He finds a large table and as we enter through the brass doors he stops Joe. “Excuse me sir, while we are more casual on our first night, shorts are never acceptable attire!”. Joe says what about Jeans and he says as long as they are not shorts. Joe heads up to change.

As we finish dinner the waiters gather around Steve and Fran. As a surprise, Steve has arranged a celebration of the 40th wedding anniversary. Much to Fran’s delight and sheer embarrassment that start singing a dutch celebratory song and deliver a special piece of cake.

As we finish up who comes strolling in but Jeff without Babs. Seems they took a little lie down and ignored the phone as they were comfortable and had a 4 hour sleep. We are all pretty tired at this point so we told Jeff to go checkout the Late Night buffet and we will see him in the morning. Many of us are on the same tour but Jeff and Babs are not so we make arrangements for 8:00 dinner for all 9 of us tomorrow and say goodnight.
